Blu ray box sets movie#
The original Blu-rays for Force Awakens and Last Jedi both contained a separate disc for their bonus features, but the 2019 Blu-rays of these movies contained a single disc with the movie on it. The Star Wars Blu-ray box set from 2011 contained three extra bonus discs of content as well as the six movies on Blu-ray. Even if there is a 4K UHD and a Blu-ray for each movie, there's still nine discs left. "9 Movie Collection" is listed in the Details section so don't expect any of the spinoff movies yet like Rogue One or Solo. The Best Buy website has no details on what exactly will be on the 27 discs.
Hopefully, seven of those 27 discs will be the first physical 4K editions of those movies.
The six original Star Wars movies as well as The Force Awakens became available in 4K for the first time on Disney+. The Best Buy link doesn't work every time we click it, so here is an image of the set. The promotional image is open to a page with art for Return of the Jedi. The movies appear to come in a massive book as opposed to a traditional Blu-ray case or steelbook. The Best Buy website previously showed a release date for Tuesday, March 31, 2020, but that release date has since been removed. The set goes for $329.99 and is not available on the American Best Buy online store at this time.
This hasn't been officially announced by Disney, but is currently shown on Best Buy Canada.
